Another week of missed breaks and lunches at Dollar Tree for myself and fellow ASTM. Our manager put us in for breaks and lunches we did not take, but he put us in for them even though we did not put them on the timeclock worksheet. The week before he put a note with our names in the office with big stars by them for not writing them down for all associates to see. What is even better...we get no lunch unless we take it as soon as we get there or go past 5 hrs. and then get get in trouble for it. He however gets to leave the store for hour to hour and 45 minute lunches. He even took a young ladies helping for inventory prep from another store along for these lunches several times and in Compass itshows her as taking a 30 minute lunch. They also would take the bank deposit together (bank is less than 1/2 mile round trip) and would take trips to Starbucks (a 45 minute bank deposit).
We also get told we do not do anything, can't do anything and he is intentionally scheduling people against the availability that thay have had in the computer for the past year due to school or a second job. These people were hired with this availability and has not changed but he does it anyways. He also punishes people with the schedule if they question him on anything.

Yes, I am constantly forced to work through my breaks and lunches too. At Christmas time, we were doing 10,000 dollars a day and i was only scheduled with one cashier, so i would just have to work through my 8 hour shift without a second to rest, and when i had to let my cashier go on break, i was stuck with the 40 pissed off people in my line, constantly trying to explain why there wasn't anyone else to help out. i am so sick of our bullshit speh. I am also tired of having to close on saturday nights with one damn cashier and still expected to get the store clean. i am tired of having to close an extra night because my sm thinks he's too important to close the two nights he is required, so he only closes one. i am also sick of the employee purchase policy. they treat us like criminals when we have thousands of dollars of shrink each yr thanks to customers. but if another am is not present to watch me purchase a drink, well then i just cant buy anything all day. and if there is by some miracle another am there for me to buy something, i can't take it out of the building after 7pm. so if i buy a soda and i don't finish it all, i cant take it home with me if it is after 7. bullshit!
been threw it all. its the same at most dollar tree's i would never go back to work for them they suck
i work at dt and hate it as much as everyone else who has commented here, but what are we going to do about it? i think dt workers need a union.

I worked for DT a few years ago. It is a shame that the rules must be followed by store associates and the corporate have didnt rules. If someone is being under investigation they are suspended, if it is someone higher up, they stay at work and rub it in saying they dont care how many times someone calls HR on them, they will never get into trouble, and I have an email where HR said everything I reported was me throwing her friend under the bus. I thought HR was on the side of no one and was not suppose to protect someone they use to work with, especially if they had numerous others complaining.
I AGREE DT SUCKS THEY WANT TO GIVE ME THE TIME BUT EXPECT ME ALONE TO DO ALL WORK (MOP,PACKOUT,CLEAN BATHROOM,FIX BACKROOM,CLEAN UP AFTER EVERYBODY ELSE MESS ON THEIR ISLES,THEY WANT ME TO UNPACK 6 UBOATS IN FIVE HOURS OF WORK ALL BY MYSELF FOR ONLY 7.50 AN HR ALSO YOU HAVE 6 MANAGERS AND THEY TELL ME TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYTIME I THINK THATS INSANE THATS LIKE BEEN A SLAVE NIGHT WORKERS SHOULD GET MORE PAID THAN DAY WORKERS
#1 why arent you calling the careline at the home office about this jerk that makes you work breaks and lunchs.He would be fired if you all stuck together. Its against the law.
#2 I have a dm that wants me out of here even though i am the one that is busting my ass to get as much frieght out of the back room as possible. I am in my 60s and work harser than any young one at my store yet she has told every manager to get rid of me that is their first duty as a new manager. I dont know why, i care about the store and want it to work but she is doing every thing she can to make the managers quit, we have had 10 managers in the last 10 years .only 3 or 4 before she came,the rest has been in the last 3 years i have been there. thats sad you think the co. would question why we have went through so many managers since she has join our district. just proves dollartree corp. doesnt care about the people really making these stores work only these upper people who probably havent worked a store in their life and dont realize how hard it is to do it with no hours and no help.
Me and another one of my girls that cashier with me have to deal with everything all of you are saying but i also have to deal with my boss telljng me how he has to give him self hand jobs because his wife wont have sex with him . He is like this all the time .and i cant say anything he is like best buds with the d.m so im fucked . :(
Haven't shopped there in months because as an employee I have to flash parts of my Social at the cash register whenever I want to buy something. This is so that they can print a receipt with my name on it that will be taped to the product to prove I didn't steal it. Even if I'm leaving the store, or am not even working that day.
Why the company is unable to identify us instead by instead using a part of the worker ID number is beyond me. Go DT!
Lol. Been working at DT for a while now. All i hear on this blog spot is bitching. 6 Uboats in 5 hours? Easy. As for breaks where i work they make you take breaks and lunch breaks. Seams like you need to quit bitching and go over the managers head. And tell corperate. Im sure if every employee sticks with it and corp. Gets enough complaint s they will swap the management out. Some people on here have real issues with work. The rest it sounds like bitching.
Thats sexual harrassment. As a right they get one warning from yoy if you feel it is bothering you. If it continues go straight to the police and get a restraining order then that sick o will be fired. I would just beat the fuck out of him and complain temorary insanity. Or record him.

I need help. My manager is trying to fire me. She harassed me all day from 9 am to 11 pm with her husband. She is mad cause Monty grandmother died and I needed time. So I took the day off the well before inventory. She says I'm not entitled to any bereavement time or pay. Is this true? And how about my pto can I use that? She is planning on firing me tomorrow for insubordination. I guess I was wrong to tell get to leave me alone in my time of grieving from my home on the day I took off. Help me. What do I do?
